Position:  Industrial Engineer

Reporting To:  EVP & Co-Founder

The Industrial Engineer position will be a key piece in helping customers drive intelligent change. Within this position, you will work with customers and the engineering team to evaluate data and process flows and make recommendations on technologies, storage requirements, and different operational flows. You will be part of an exciting team working in an exciting industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Customers to understand the challenges at hand
  • Understand the client’s expectations, existing processes, and current systems.
  • Visit job sites during the proposal phase to understand the current solution and identify what is and isn’t working.
  • Request and analyze raw order data files from customers.
  • Build process flows to optimize an existing facility or support a new facility.
  • Be able to articulate the “why” of a solution with comfort and conviction
  • Understand new and emerging technologies as well as non-traditional solutions
  • Assist in solution development by providing the right data inputs.
  • Assist in the sales process by participating in presentations to the customer.
  • Creation of budget and schedules for concepts created
  • Creation of a Conceptual Description of Operations
  • Assist and share work duties across the Zion team as we grow

Position:  Robotic Systems Engineer

Reporting To:  EVP & Co-Founder

Location: Athens, GA area OR Remote

The Job:

The Robotic Systems Engineer (RSE) is the front line of Memorable Experiences and Intelligent Change.   Using a tool set of creative thinking, the newest industry technologies, and other material handling assets, the RSE will help build concepts and processes that will not only achieve the desired result for the customer but create a “WOW” experience that leads to long lasting customer relationships.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Embrace the Zion Solutions Group Vision, Live the Mission and Values
  • Work with Customers to understand the challenges at hand
  • Understand the client’s expectations, existing processes, and current systems.
  • Understand how to solution and design robotic material handling solutions, including Goods to Person, Pick and Place, AMR/AGV, Vision, other
  • Visit job sites during the proposal phase to ensure the proposed layouts fit into and around all obstructions within the existing and/or new facility.
  • Complete Block Plans, Flow Diagrams, Concept Layouts, and Project Plan schedules to illustrate the solution that will be presented to the customer.
  • Be able to properly size the robotic systems to ensure proper amount of risk versus expected ROI, mitigating risk
  • Be able to articulate the “why” of a solution with comfort and conviction
  • Understand new and emerging technologies as well as non-traditional solutions
  • Schedule and follow milestone bid plan checkpoints to ensure concept development is aligned internally and with the customer.
  • Assist in the sales process by participating in presentations to the customer.
  • Creation of budget and schedules for concepts created
  • Creation of a Conceptual Description of Operations
  • Working with OEM partners to understand use and case studies, upcoming advances to technology, and changes to approach for product usage
  • Continued education on existing partnerships and similar products to help build cases for and against specific uses of robotic technology
  • Assist and share work duties across the Zion team as we grow

 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

 

  • An abundance of attitude and aptitude in a changing and evolving industry
  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • 2+ Years’ Experience in the Material Handling Industry or equivalent experience is nice but certainly not required
  • Comfort building relationships with internal teammates, external partners, and customer
  • Working knowledge of Conveyor, Racking, Storage Systems and Advancing Technologies (Robotics, Goods to Person Systems etc.) is helpful
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude necessary.
  • Well-developed verbal / interpersonal skills with strong organizational, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Ability to understand complex data sets, bringing together the “story” the data tells
  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously and comfortably in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, Visio) and AutoDesk Products (AutoCad, Inventor, Etc).
  • Industry knowledge related to supply chain, logistics, material handling systems, and software such as WMS, WES, WCS, CCS, ERP, is nice but not required
  • Knowledge of installation and maintenance of systems
  • Ability to work without direct supervision with a high degree of independence
  • Travel up to 30% or as needed.

Working Conditions:

 

  • Fun, with a side of work, is to be expected daily
  • Work outside of normal business hours can happen from time to time as we get busy closing business!
  • Get to experience Operations up close and personal. This means:
    • Occasional climbing on steps, scaffolding and/or mezzanines.
    • Standing or walking for a long period of time.
    • Occasional lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 75 pounds may be required
    • Possible exposure to noise levels exceeding recommended DBA levels.
  • Working with computers and computer programs for a long period of time.
  • Working in office, warehouse, and manufacturing facilities
